WHY I CREATE

As a child I was always creating. Whether it was creating art pieces with leaves, flowers and gum nuts, writing, designing my future house plans or covering my walls with pictures I’d drawn, I felt happy and ‘myself’ when I was creating.

Years later when I started teaching, I prioritised my students above all else (even finding myself in at work on Boxing Day one year). I’d stopped, drawing, writing, reading for pleasure, painting and all of my usual creative outlets. It’s not surprising that it was in these years that I was at my most unwell. Physically I had manifested a number of food intolerances, regularly had a sore liver and suffered from chronic fatigue. Emotionally I was anxious, depressed and eventually suicidal. Spiritually, I was ‘doing all the things’ I thought would help, meditating, talking with my angels, saying so many positive affirmations!!

But, I wasn’t creating!

Needless to say, something had to change. I resigned from my beloved school and the students who completely had my heart. I moved back to family. I started creating. Only simple things at first. Slowly, and with lots of hard work, I found me again.

Now I create as a way to feel grounded. I create to express the feminine within me.

I create to still my mind.

Above are a collection of pieces I have made and pieces i use myself and love.
